Dae-je Chin is an South Korean businessman and a former politician. He has
served as the 9th Minister of
Information and Communication of South Korea from 2003 and 2006. He is
currently the CEO of Skylake Incuvest & Co., a venture capital/private
equity fund.
He studied electronic engineering at
Seoul National University, and later Stanford University. Having worked as a
research scientist at Hewlett Packard and IBM, Dr. Chin was scouted by Samsung
in 1985, where he quickly rose the corporate ladders. He served as president of
Samsung’s Semiconductor Business and under his leadership, Samsung succeeded in
creating the world’s first 16 Megabit DRAM.
Recognized for his significant contributions to Samsung's rise to power, Dr. Chin was awarded the Stars of Asia Award from Business Week in 2005.
